Introduction to the use of optical fiber bushing

The use of optical fiber sleeve is an important link in the construction and maintenance of optical fiber communication, which is directly related to the stability of optical fiber connection point and signal transmission quality. First, preparation

Tools: Ensure that necessary tools such as the welding machine, cutting knife, Steiger pliers, alcohol cotton, optical fibers, and fiber tubes are available.

Check the optical fiber: Carefully check the optical fiber to be connected to ensure that its surface is clean and free of damage.

Second, fiber preprocessing

Strip the coating layer: Use Steiger pliers to gently strip the coating layer of the optical fiber, generally about 4cm in length. Do not damage the optical fiber.

Clean the optical fiber: Clean the exposed part of the optical fiber with alcohol cotton to ensure that the surface of the optical fiber is free of attachments such as oil stains and dust. It is generally recommended to clean 3 times for best results.

Cut the fiber: Put the cleaned fiber into the guide slot of the cutting knife, ensure that the front ends of the coating are aligned with the specified position of the cutting knife ruler (for example, between 16mm and 12mm), and then cut. When cutting the optical fiber, keep it stable to avoid oblique angles or burrs.

Third, optical fiber connection

Place the optical fiber: put the two cut optical fibers into the fixture of the welding machine respectively. Avoid touching the inner hole of the optical fiber, and ensure that the inner hole of the optical fiber is between the electrical grade rod and the V-shaped slot.

Welding optical fiber: cover the wind shield and start the welding machine for welding. During the welding process, pay attention to the display screen of the welding machine to ensure that the welding quality meets the requirements.

Fourth, optical fiber sleeve application

Insert the sleeve: After the weld is cooled and the weld quality is confirmed, insert the fiber sleeve into the fiber connection point. Note that the length of the casing should be moderate to ensure that the weld is fully covered and there is some overlap.

Heat shrink bushing: For optical fiber bushing that requires heat shrink (such as heat shrink protective bushing), it needs to be heated in the electric heater together with the optical fiber. When heating, set the temperature and time according to the requirements of the sleeve manual to ensure that the sleeve can tightly wrap the fiber connection point.

Check and secure: After the heat shrink is complete, take out the fiber sleeve and check its wrapping. If necessary, tape or other fixing devices can be used to secure the optical fiber at both ends of the sleeve to prevent it from moving or bending too much.

Fifth, precautions

Avoid contamination: During the entire operation, care should be taken to keep the fiber and sleeve clean to avoid contamination affecting its performance.

Operation specifications: Strictly follow the instruction manual of the welding machine and optical fiber sleeve to avoid damage or performance degradation caused by improper operation.

Safety protection: When heating and other operations, pay attention to safety protection measures to avoid burns or other accidents.
