How to install optical fiber distribution box?

fiber distribution box

The installation of an optical fiber distribution box is a multi-step process, and the following is a detailed installation guide:

First, prepare before installation

1. Determine the installation position:

- Determine the installation position of the optical fiber distribution box based on the design document or actual requirements. The location should be in a dry, ventilated, and anti-corrosion place, and the height should be no less than 1.8 meters above the ground. (The specific height can be adjusted according to the actual situation, for example, the height of the bottom of the indoor installation should be 1.2m to 2.5m above the ground, and the height of the bottom of the outdoor installation should be 2.8m to 3.2m above the ground.)

- The installation location should avoid unstable walls, decorative external walls, parapet walls and other non-load-bearing walls, as well as external walls of temporary facilities.

- Ensure that no potential water leakage, such as water pipes, or high-voltage cables pass above the installation position, and pedestrian traffic is not affected.

2. Check the equipment:

- Before installation, check that the optical fiber interface board and protective sleeve inside the optical fiber distribution box are complete and conform to the specifications.

- Prepare necessary tools and materials, such as expansion bolts, levels, protective ground cables, optical fiber jumpers, and cable hoses.

Second, installation steps

1. Fix the optical fiber distribution box:

- Secure the optical fiber distribution box to the predetermined position using expansion bolts. Ensure that the box is installed firmly and horizontally, and the deviation of perpendicularity is not greater than 3mm.

- For wall-mounted equipment, it should be firmly installed, horizontal and vertical.

2. Introduce optical cable:

- Insert the cable into the optical fiber distribution box through the cable entry hole. At this time, you need to prepare a suitable cable jacket to protect the cable from damage during the introduction process.

- After the optical cable enters the container, wrap multiple circles of tape around the fixed position of the optical cable and tighten it to prevent the optical cable from loosening.

3. Distribution of optical cable:

- In the optical fiber distribution box, assign optical cables to different ports or modules as required. Ensure that the bending radius of the cable meets the requirements of the cable manufacturer to avoid signal loss caused by excessive bending.

- Connect the optical cable to the optical interface board using optical fiber jumpers to ensure secure and reliable connection.

4. Identification and record:

- Mark and record inside and outside the optical fiber distribution box. For example, marking the starting direction, number of cores and other information on the cable; Mark information such as the number, model, and color of fiber cores on the optical fiber interface board.

- Fill out the paper form of fiber splitting and place it in the card slot inside the box door.

5. Grounding treatment:

- For optical fiber distribution boxes that need to be connected to power cables, use protective ground cables that comply with relevant regulations to ensure that the safety current is grounded.

The reinforced core and metal shielding layer of the cable should also be grounded to prevent safety hazards such as electromagnetic interference and lightning strikes.

6. Check and test:

- Check and test the equipment after installation. Ensure that the optical fiber connections and connectors are in good condition without damage or excessive bending. Test whether the cable transmission performance meets the design requirements.

Third, precautions

- During the installation process, cabling operations should be conducted in strict accordance with the requirements of the cable manufacturer to avoid lap bonding, excessive bending and other operations that may reduce the transmission performance of the cable.

- The service life of the optical fiber distribution box is generally 5-10 years. During use, check and maintain the device status regularly to ensure that the optical path is unblocked, the support is firm, and the plug-in cables comply with specifications.

- When working at height, pay attention to the safety protection measures in place to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.

The preceding information is for reference only. The installation procedure and requirements may vary depending on the device model and application scenario. In the actual operation should be adjusted and improved according to the specific situation.
