Installation method of the optical fiber sleeve

First, preparation

Tools: Necessary tools, such as the welding machine, cutting knife, wire stripper, alcohol cotton, optical fibers, and fiber tubes, have been prepared.

Check the optical fiber: Carefully check the optical fiber to be connected to ensure that its surface is clean and free of damage, and its length meets the connection requirements.

Second, fiber preprocessing

Remove the coating layer: Use a wire stripper to gently remove the coating layer of the optical fiber, exposing the bare fiber. The stripping length should be determined according to the requirements of the casing, generally ranging from a few centimeters to more than ten centimeters.

Clean the optical fiber: Use alcohol cotton to clean the exposed part of the optical fiber to remove impurities such as grease and dust from the surface.

Cutting the optical fiber: Put the cleaned optical fiber into the cutting knife and cut it according to the specified length. When cutting the optical fiber, keep it stable to avoid oblique angles or burrs.

Third, optical fiber connection

Place the optical fiber: Place the two cut optical fibers into the fixture of the welding machine respectively, and ensure that the optical fiber end faces are flat and aligned.

Weld optical fibers: Start the welding machine to weld optical fibers. During the welding process, pay attention to the display screen of the welding machine to ensure that the welding quality meets the requirements. After the welding is complete, the welding machine automatically pushes out the fused optical fiber.

Fourth, optical fiber sleeve installation

Select a casing: Select an appropriate casing based on the type and connection mode of the optical fiber. Casing should have good mechanical strength, corrosion resistance and thermal stability.

Insert the optical fiber into the casing: Insert the fused optical fiber into the casing. Ensure that the optical fiber is tightly fitted to the inner wall of the casing to avoid voids or bubbles.

Fixing the casing: If the casing needs to be fixed (such as the heat shrink casing), use a heating tool (such as a heat gun) to heat the casing. When heating, the temperature and time should be controlled according to the requirements of the sleeve to ensure that the sleeve can tightly wrap the optical fiber connection point. After heating is complete, the casing shrinks and is tightly attached to the fiber.

Fifth, check and test

Appearance Check: Check whether the casing completely covers the optical fiber connection point and the surface is smooth and intact.

Performance test: Use optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) and other test equipment to test the fiber connection point to ensure that the connection quality meets the requirements and the signal transmission is stable.

Sixth, precautions

Operation specifications: During the installation, strictly follow the operation specifications to avoid damage to optical fibers.

Safety protection: When heating the casing, safety protection measures should be taken to avoid burns or other accidents.

Environmental control: During installation, pay attention to the temperature, humidity, and cleanliness of the surrounding environment to avoid adverse effects on optical fibers and bushings.
